This antique Buddhist print depicts the Nehan-zu (Parinirvana of the Buddha), a composition attributed to Myōchō, an important Zen monk and artist. The scene portrays the passing of Shakyamuni Buddha, a revered theme in Japanese Buddhist art.
Dating back to the Edo period, this piece reflects the influence of classical Buddhist iconography and temple art. Measuring approximately 44 × 28 cm, it has signs of age, including minor creases and wear, consistent with its historical nature. A rare and atmospheric piece for collectors of Japanese religious art.
