This 播磨国/中野村/銀壱匁 note, issued in Bunkyū 3 (1863), is a 1-Ryō silver note from Nakano Village in Harima Province (modern-day Kashi District, Hyogo Prefecture). It is a rice certificate (米切手) that represents one 匁 of silver, a common form of local currency during the Edo period.

The note was issued under the guidance of Miyake Yatarō, who was involved in the Mibu Domain's silver note issuing process in Ansei 5 (1858). This connection further solidifies the note’s historical relevance in regional commerce and trade.

This Bunkyū-period note offers an example of local, commodity-based currency that was still in circulation even during the transitional phase of Japan's late Edo to early Meiji period.

This particular note is considered in good condition and provides a fascinating insight into the currency system used in the Harima region during the final years of the Edo period.
