This 3 Koku Sen note is from the Okushō Association in Tajima Province, issued during the Meiwa to Tenmei era (1770–1780s). It was a form of financial instrument used for trade and credit within the region, specifically in the modern-day area of Shin-onsen Town, Hyogo Prefecture, which was historically part of the Niho District. The note is stamped on the reverse with 24 different impressions, which authenticate the note and indicate its intended use. It expired in September, as indicated on the note. The condition is fair, with some signs of age, such as folding and staining, but it retains its historical significance.
