This is an original ukiyo-e actor print by the esteemed artist Toyohara Kunichika (1835–1900), renowned for his vivid and dynamic portraits of kabuki actors. Created in the early Meiji period, around the 1870s, this artwork captures the essence of Japanese theater during a time of cultural transformation.
The print measures approximately 12.4 cm by 17.7 cm (small format). It boasts good printing quality and vibrant colors. The overall preservation is average for its age, with some scuffs, wrinkles, minor stains, and a vertical crease in the center. These signs of wear are typical for an artifact of this period.
